Kultur Quiz Question (5)

Question 1.

          Over time it has been a common practice for certain compositions to be known by names–names assigned by the composer, a publisher, or others. In Column A. below I list the names of several compositions which I shall generally classify as works of Chamber Music. In Column B. identify the composer of each of these pieces, and in Column C. designate the number and types of musical instruments for which the works were scored.

          I acknowledge the assistance of and express my appreciation to Dr. J. Cary Lewis (pianist) and his wife, Dorothy Hall Lewis (cellist) who, with violinist William Preucil, perform and record as the Lanier Trio, for their assistance to me in drafting this Kultur Quiz Question.

Answer 2.

A. (1) All of these villages were, during World War II, destroyed by
German soldiers and the inhabitants massacred, and

     (2) After the War these villages were not rebuilt or repopulated,
but rather were left in ruins as War Memorials.
